05 Apr Hirotaka Akiba and Sojun Miyamura Take Poidum Places at the North Japan Yo-yo Contest
Team Yoyorecreation members Hirotaka Akiba placed 3rd in the 1A division and Sojum Miyamura placed 2nd in the 5A division at the North Japan Yo-yo Contest held in Chitose on the 26th March.
Hirotaka made use of a horizontal tricks and distinctive super high-difficulty chopstick combos, all performed in his familiar “Akiba style”. Although his finals routine was extremely clean Hirotaka missed out on the title by a little. Even so – his high-difficulty tricks and consistency are a cause for having high expectations of him at Japan Nationals.
Sojun’s freestyle was a breath of fresh air, with his natural showmanship and high technical ability making it a pleasure to watch. He masterfully performed a series of tricks, all of which oozed with the natural charm of 5A. Although there were a few mistakes this time around, it is clear that Sojun is still a top quality player.
